# JBP-50 - Compensate Chinese Mods for Emergency Moderation

### **What is this payout for?**

Between Nov 26 and Nov 30, 2021, Juicebox DAO received an unprecedented influx of Chinese language new members. Discord membership more than doubled in this four-day span. 

Amongst the new members, the DAO and its Discord were also subject to the first scam and spam attacks of note in the DAO's history. Misinformation included links to scam token sales of a phony JBX token on BSC and impersonator accounts on WeChat, Telegram, and Twitter.

To establish Chinese-language communication with these new DAO members and to effectively moderate the spread of misinformation and abusive content, [Jango](https://www.notion.so/Jango-3d619a88d22048128b2be209c4fcbcb9), [Zeugh](https://www.notion.so/Zeugh-d2e9734ddbfd432ea06098c264690162), and [Nicholas](https://www.notion.so/Nicholas-018dfa4125c04ad5962ae941a0d11cf1)  agreed that they would support a retroactive payout of 1 ETH to four proactive and responsible Chinese-English bilingual contributors in the early hours of Saturday, November 27, 2021. The moderation and translation support these four contributors provided in late November and early December were crucial to effectively handling the challenges posed by this unanticipated community growth event.

Total: $16,400 USD (which is the equivalent of 4 ETH at time of writing).

This could establish a precedent of very large retroactive payouts. The authors believe that in this case, a payout of this size is warranted. These four contributors came in at a time when the DAO had a huge need and worked with no guarantee of compensation.
