# JBP-197 - Revoke Existing Payout Proposals After Seven Funding Cycles ```plain text Title: Revoke Existing Payout Proposals After Seven Funding Cycles Author: filipv Date: 2022-05-31 ``` ## Thesis Formally introduce a sunset clause (end date) on existing payout proposals. ## Abstract Although the DAO has encouraged payout recipients to re-submit every 90 days, this process has not been formalized. This proposal will revoke existing payouts 7 funding cycles (98 days) after their implementation. Moving forward, the DAO should ask proposal authors to add sunset clauses to their proposals. ## Motivation For a payout to be removed, a DAO member must submit a proposal. In practice, this often fails–bystander effect, social pressure, and the time commitment can get in the way. By encouraging sunset clauses, the DAO will reduce governance overhead and the potential for conflict. Payout removal will go from being a time-intensive governance process to being a simple matter of bookkeeping. ## Risks The lack of formalization has proven useful, especially during hectic times. A requirement to regularly re-propose may be inconvenient. Contributors may feel less secure about their payouts. ## Specification Revoke _JBP-119: Zeugh + CanuDAO reccuring payout update_ in FC#24 Revoke _JBP-122: filipv payout update_ in FC#24 Revoke _JBP-127: Renew and Increase payout for WAGMI Studios_ in FC#25 Revoke _JBP-134: add gulan to recurring payment_ in FC#26 Revoke _JBP-137: Recurring Payment Proposal for Viraz_ in FC#27 Revoke _JBP-138: Add Felixander to recurring payout_ in FC#27 Revoke _JBP-142: Increase Jango’s payout_ in FC#27 Revoke _JBP-145: Recurring Payout for Tankbottoms.eth_ in FC#27 Revoke _JBP-147: DrGorilla renew/update recurring payout_ in FC#28 Revoke _JBP-149: Peel recurring payout renewal_ in FC#28 Revoke _JBP-165: Twodam recurring payout renewal_ in FC#29 Revoke _JBP-167: Add zhape to recurring payout_ in FC#29 Revoke _JBP-169: On Going Metaverse Curation_ in FC#29 Payouts associated with revoked proposals should be removed unless a new proposal supersedes the revoked proposal. ## Copyright Disclaimer Copyright and related rights waived via [CC0](https://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/).
